Dr Shein swears in permanent secretaries for national unity government

Zanzibar President Dr Ali Mohammed Shein yesterday sworn in the newly appointed permanent secretaries for the government of national unity.
The new permanent secretaries were appointed on Thursday evening, whereby he re-appointed all the permanent secretaries, who had saved in the sixth phase government.
According to a press statement availed to the media, Abdulhamid Yahya Mzee was appointed Chief Secretary and Secretary of the Zanzibar Revolutionary Council, while Salum Maulid Salum was appointed as Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office and Chairman for the Revolutionary Council, State House.
Others are Abdalla Juma Abdalla, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Special Government Departments), Said Abdalla Natepe, Deputy Permanent Secretary (International Cooperation and Coordination of activities of Zanzibaris living abroad), Mwinyiusi Abdalla Hassan, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Regional Administration and Local Governments).
Other permanent secretaries include Khami Mussa Omra, who has been re-appointed as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Economy and Development Plans and Abdi Khamis Faki Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Finance.
Dr Shein also appointed Amina Khamis as Executive Secretary for Zanzibar Planning Commission and Joseph Abdalla Meza as Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office Civil Servant and Good Governance and his Deputy is Yakout H Yakout, Dr Omar Dadi Shajak, Permanent Secretary in First Vice President Office and Dr Ismal Seif Salum as his deputy.
Dr Khalid Said Mohammed has been appointed as Permanent Secretary in the Second Vice President Office and his deputy is Said Shaaban Said.
Dr Shein also has appointed Asaa Ahmada Rashid as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Constitution and Justice and his deputy is Abdughani Msoma, while Mwanaidi Saleh Abdalla has been appointed Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training and his deputy is Mzee Abdalla Mzee Abdalla.
Mohammed Saleh Jidawi has been re-appointed in the Ministry of Health, while Dr Malik Abdalla Juma as Director General in the Ministry.
Others appointed are Vuai Idd Lila, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Communication and his deputy is Msanif Haji Mussa.
Rahma Mohammed Mshangama had been appointed to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Youth Development, Women and Children and her deputy is Msham Abadalla Khamis.
Other permanent secretaries are Ali Saleh Mwinyikai in the Ministry of Information, Culture, Tourism and Sports and his deputy is Issa Mlingoti Ali.
Other appointed permanent secretaries and their deputies are Mwalimu Ali Mwalimu (Ministry of Land, Housing, Water, and Energy), his deputy is Tahir M. Abdalla, Julian Raphael (Ministry of Trade, Industries, and Marketing), his deputy is Rashid
Ali Salum, Asha Ali Abdalla (Ministry of Labour, Peoples Economic Empowerment and Cooperatives), his deputy is Ali Khamis Juma, Othman Maalim (Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources), his deputies are Juma Ali Juma and Dr Bakar Asseid (Natural Resources).
The president also appointed Dr Kassim Gharib as permanent secretary in the Ministry Livestock and Fisheries, his deputy is Dr Omar Ali Ameir.
The newly appointed permanent secretaries and their deputies come from the main political CCM and CUF that form the national unity government.
Isles Constitution as amended also allows the new power-sharing government to distribute ministerial positions to the respective parties in accordance with percentage of votes scored by the parties in the general elections.
